WASSAN is functioning as resource organisation Andhra Pradesh Community Managed Natural Farming and Programme Secretariat for Integrated Farming, Odisha Millets Mission, Jharkhand High Impact Mega Watershed and other major development projects. WASSAN is collaborating with large number of NGO partners, think tanks, foreign universities and state government departments. WASSAN is initiating work on Agro biodiversity in Odisha with focus on Agrobiodiversity registers strengthening biodiversity management committees, preparation and documentation of traditional Knowledge, etc.

Events Coordinator under Odisha Millets Mission

Type of Job:
Planning and Managing Events, Promotion of Millet based Recipes

Bhubaneswar, Odisha

Reporting to:
State Coordinator, Programme Secretariat (WASSAN), Odisha Millets Mission (OMM)

Period of Contract:
The contract will be for a period of 3 years, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and project period extension. The engagement can be cancelled / terminated for any non-performance in duties, misconduct or without assigning any reason thereof.

OMM Programme:
WASSAN is partners with the Government of Odisha for the Special Programme for Promotion of Millets in Tribal Areas. This is being implemented in 142 blocks of 19 districts of Odisha. The project aims to improve millet production through organic/sustainable agriculture practices, set up processing units, provide market linkages throughs farmer collectives and include millets in state nutrition programmes.

Job Description:

  • Conceptualization, design and managing promotional events regarding millet production, consumption, processing and marketing. This will include putting up a promotional stall or food stall at events like Make in Odisha, Adivasi Mela, Krishi Odisha, managing Urban/Rural Internship programme where students run street side promotional food stalls, etc.
  • Support in establishing, developing, and monitoring the millets-based enterprises in the programme like processing units, tiffin centres, food trucks, millet cafes, bakery, and other units, etc.
  • Planning and organizing the events for International Year of Millet-2023 (IYM), Hocky World cup or any relevant mega events organised by government departments.
  • Planning and Coordination with ATMA, District level NGOs and District Coordinators of WASSAN for conducting District and Block level events.
  • Capacity Building of ATMA, NGOs and Community resource persons on conducting events.
  • Reporting and documentation with good quality photographs of all events.
  • Working with student groups, start-ups, government departments to mainstream millets in various food consumption spaces and sectors.
  • Troubleshooting for events and other initiatives of the mission to ensure smooth delivery of the project deliverables.
  • The person must be ready to do moderate physical work themselves like shopping, cooking, or assisting in cooking, lifting packets, cartons, bags, etc.
  • Handholding support to CBO members on recipes preparation and value addition with different millet crops.

Desired Candidate Profile:

  • Should have a full time Bachelor’s or Master’s in Event Management / Hotel Management / Business Administration / Agriculture / Rural Management / Social Work / Tribal Studies / Development studies.
  • Must understand basic finance and have functional knowledge of MS Office or Spreadsheet.
  • Should possess good oral and written communication skills in English and Odia command in Hindi can be add advantage.
  • Skills in photography, videography or graphic design skills will be advantageous.
  • Should be willing to be based in Bhubaneswar with travel within and outside Odisha as per requirement. Should be willing to change the base location within Odisha as per the project requirement.
  • Should be very motivated and be a team player. Should be willing to flexible with location and work timings.
  • Should be willing to learn concepts and become skilled to meet the organizational needs.
  • Willingness to join immediately shall be advantageous.
  • Candidates with experience in organizing food related events/cultural fests will be preferred.


Rs 30,000- 40,000/- per month commensurate to experience and qualification. Deductions shall be applicable as per the organizational policy.
