WASSAN (Watershed Support Services and Activities Network), Hyderabad since 1999. WASSAN is a network-based organisation focusing on improving the quality of mainstream programs in natural resources management and livelihoods. It engages actively in policy advocacy initiatives at state and national level mainly related to rainfed agriculture. It also provides field level support services to a large number of watershed development and other programs implemented by the civil society in partnership with communities. Currently, WASSAN has around 300 employees spread in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha and Jharkhand.

Key Responsibilities:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Multi-Actor Landscape Platform Coordinator to play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective implementation, monitoring and evaluation of our programmes in Odisha. The Multi-Actor Landscape Platform Coordinator will be responsible for the effective implementation and coordination of the “Multi-Actor Landscape Platform for Agroecology” in Boipariguda Block, Koraput. This role is crucial in mobilising and facilitating collaboration among diverse stakeholders—government, civil society, local communities, and Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI)—to foster agroecological practices, ensure sustainable utilisation of natural resources, and strengthen community-led agriculture, horticulture, livestock, and allied production systems.

Key Responsibilities
1. Stakeholder Engagement and Coordination
Facilitate collaboration and dialogue amongst the actors of the Landscape Platform (i.e. government agencies, PRI members, Civil Society Organisations, Community-Based Organisations, producers, farmers etc).
Coordinate and organise landscape-level meetings, workshops, and capacity-building sessions for stakeholders to achieve landscape goals and implement action plans.

2. Collaborate with Nodal Agency and Nodal Officer
Coordinate with the Nodal Agency and other line departments/ agencies to pool resources, leverage schemes, and access technical support for effective planning and implementation of multi-actor landscape plans.
Work closely with the Nodal Officer to achieve the short-term and long-term landscape by ensuring the adherence to the MoU.
Maintain regular communication with the Nodal Agency, Departments and Nodal Officer to share progress updates, report outcomes, align strategies, and ensure transparency and accountability.
3. Program Planning and Monitoring
Facilitate fieldwork/ assessments, baseline studies, and data collection to measure the impact and effectiveness of the platform’s initiatives
Coordinate and oversee planning processes under various thematic domains and ensure alignment with MAP goals and timelines and also agro-ecological principles. Monitor and document project progress, outcomes, and challenges, providing regular reports to the Program Lead.

4. Mobilisation and Capacity Building
* Engage with local CSO and CBO partners to plan and facilitate active participation of local communities and institutions.
Plan, design and conduct training for CBOs – women SHGs, farmers, and village institutions – on various production systems, natural resource management, and value addition for local produce.
* Empower women SHGs and local youth to play active roles in platform activities.

5. Documentation and Reporting
* Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on project activities, stakeholder engagement, and progress.
* Document case studies, success stories, and lessons learned to support knowledge-sharing efforts.
* Maintain records of all platform meetings, training sessions, and community engagements.

6. Policy Action and Resource Mobilisation
* Collaborate with government departments and CSO partners for policy action in agroecology.
* Explore and identify funding opportunities
* Coordinate and assist the CSOs in proposal development for mobilising additional resources for the platform’s initiatives.
* Facilitate a convergence plan by leveraging government schemes, resources, and programs for the benefit of local communities.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
* Education: Master’s degree in Agriculture or allied subjects/ Management/ Rural Development/ Social Sciences/ or a related field.
* Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience.

* Proven ability to engage and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
* Strong understanding of agroecological principles, natural farming, natural resource management, landscape production systems

Job description:
– Responsible for facilitating and arriving at the project implementation plans and follow up to ensure their proper implementation.
– Facilitate the theme wise action plan preparation with partner NGOs and consolidate for submitting it to APF.

The national program on Evolving Seed Systems for Traditional Varieties was initiated to build system-wide capacities among farmers’ groups, CSOs and Government institutions who are interested in traditional varieties to identify, collect, characterize, select, and multiply these varieties, to revive their use in local agricultural systems and to bring scientific and technical elements into their work.

Job Profile:
We are looking for a Programme Associate (Research and Knowledge Management) for the National Coalition for Natural Farming (NCNF). The Programme Associate will work with partners across the network and others working in the Agroecology domain in India, and will specifically also focus on a project carrying out participatory research on farmers’ transition to agroecology, through models of farmer-to-farmer extension and public policies. The project is part of a joint collaboration between Watershed Activities and Support Services Network (WASSAN), National Coalition for Natural Farming (NCNF), Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence (SNIoE), and Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA). As a Programme Associate, you will conduct field-based participatory social science and agroecology related research as per project requirements, in a team with other research associates and the research lead. You will be involved in all aspects of the research, from the scoping visits and background investigation to identify field sites, organizing and conducting the participatory inception and mid-point workshops, and spending several months at a time based at field sites to carry out ethnographic and survey based research that takes into account the interlinkages between the biophysical environment, socioeconomic context, farmers’ learning practices, norms and values, and agroecological practices. The work will involve data collection, analysis, writing, and dissemination. Much of the work will be done in a context of collaboration with CSO partners at field level
.
Duties and Responsibilities:
● Assist in scoping for identifying potential field research sites through extensive visits to agroecology organizations in different parts of India, interviews with relevant actors and documentation of experiences.
● Liaise with partner CSOs and NCNF state chapters for the planning of the field research
● Assist in organizing a series of online workshops for organizations involved in farmer-to-farmer agroecology extension, as well as helping to organize and conduct in-person workshops.
● Carry out extensive field research, involving immersion in the host context, participant observation, semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions.
● Organize and systematize field research data.
● Collate and organize other background information, documentation and data pertaining to the research.
● Carry out qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
● Assist in writing reports, publications, blogs, briefs and other outputs to disseminate findings.

In addition to the ongoing participatory research project as described above, the Programme Associate will also be involved in the following roles and activities:
(A) Collaboration with State Chapters:
● Work closely with NCNF state chapters to identify regional research gaps and priorities.
● Assist in collaborating with research partners to design and implement region-specific research projects that address identified needs.
● Provide assistance to state facilitators in documenting regional best practices and innovative models in natural farming.
(B) Knowledge Repository Development:
● Take responsibility for creating and maintaining comprehensive natural farming knowledge repositories at the national level.
● Ensure these repositories are accessible, user-friendly, and updated regularly with the latest research and field insights.
(C) Extension Materials and Dissemination:
● Develop research-based extension materials focused on natural farming science and practices.
● Facilitate the dissemination of these materials to stakeholders at regional and national levels to ensure widespread adoption and impact.
(D) Strategic Research Collaboration and Implementation:
● Establish and strengthen collaborations with different research institutions and universities to identify priority research areas, develop actionable research agendas, and drive their successful implementation through joint initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in social sciences, including training in social science research methodology, and experience conducting surveys, interviews and ethnographic research. 2+ years experience carrying out social science research. Experience outside of academia, with civil society organizations, would be especially valued.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
● Additional academic qualifications in ecology, environmental science or other natural sciences
● Ability to conduct interdisciplinary/ethnographic field research and carry out semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions
● Ability to use participatory research tools and methodologies
● Ability to systematically document learning from the field
● Proficiency in qualitative data analysis
● Basic proficiency in survey data analysis or other quantitative analysis.
● Strong academic writing ability
● Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
● Familiarity with the theory and practice of agroecology
● Sensitivity to ground level issues of farmers and concerns around gender and social justice
● Interest in questions around learning processes, including popular education and the role of indigenous knowledge in agroecology

2. Digital Media Engagement
● Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy to strengthen the online presence of the Coalition and its members.

● Define key social media performance indicators (KPIs) and monitor the effectiveness of campaigns against these metrics.

3. Responsibilities for Participatory Action Research Project:
● Draft and design communications products (documents, text, messages, photos, posts, powerpoints, other visual media) to be used in the research project on agroecology extension, and materials used to disseminate findings and recommendations resulting from the project, “Participatory Research on Extension for Scaling Agroecological Transitions”.
● Document, visually and in writing, evidence of farmers as knowledge producers, ecosystem managers, and as responders to climate change.
● Assist with social media communications, including webinars and physical meetings associated with the research, as well as with translation and transcription related to the project.
● Share and circulate research papers and other outputs from the research on social media and in other relevant circles of civil society, government, research and academia.
● Document and circulate notes on government schemes, budgets, policies and legislation to support farmer-to-farmer extension for agroecology.

The Programme Associate (Gender and Social Inclusion) will play a key role in mainstreaming gender considerations across NCNF’s programs, partner organizations, and grassroots initiatives, particularly in Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh. The Programme Associate (Gender and Social Inclusion) will ensure that women farmers’ voices are amplified, and their leadership capacities are nurtured, and that all community members are more sensitized to gender issues. The role requires working at multiple levels—network-wide, within individual partner organizations, and at the grassroots level within farm households participating in agroecological transitions.

Key Responsibilities
1. Gender Integration in Programs and Projects
● Identify gender-specific needs, constraints, and opportunities within NCNF programs and projects, with a focus on three states: Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh.
● Facilitate gender-sensitive and transformative approaches within partner organizations and network activities.

2. Capacity Building
● Organize and facilitate capacity-building initiatives for diverse stakeholders, including women farmers, extension cadres, agriculture staff, and organizational heads.
● Assist in creating women-only training and capacity-building sessions in extension programs and gender sensitization sessions for men.

3. State-Level Implementation and Coordination
● Work closely with NCNF State Chapters, state facilitators, and Gender Working/Core Groups to implement project activities effectively.
● Collaborate with resource persons from Mahila Kisan Adhikaar Manch (MAKAAM) as part of NCNF’s ongoing partnership.

4. Research and Analysis
● Collaborate with the ongoing research project on farmer-to-farmer extension to investigate how agencies work on engaging men and women farmers, differently, what are gender-specific challenges in agroecological transition, and what is the extent of women farmers’ participation in existing models/programs.
● Assist with the creation of women-only training sessions in extension programs
● Undertake background research and fieldwork to understand the implication for women farmers of various government schemes, statutes, budgets and policies.
5. Documentation and Knowledge Management
● Document NCNF’s gender-related work through case studies, success stories, and lessons learned.
● Develop and maintain a repository of resources on gender and agriculture.

6. Stakeholder Engagement
● Organize regular sharing calls to facilitate smooth communication among stakeholder groups.
● Build relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and organizations working on gender and agriculture.
● Represent NCNF at relevant forums, workshops, and conferences.

7. Reporting and Fundraising
● Prepare periodic financial and progress reports for stakeholders.
● Collaborate with the National Anchor and MAKAAM members to approach funding organizations and secure long-term support for gender-transformative agroecology initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience:
● Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Agriculture, or a related field, or substantial work experience in Gender & Agriculture.
● Proven experience in gender analysis, women’s empowerment, and agricultural development.
● Strong understanding of gender equality and social inclusion principles.
● Excellent documentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
● Strong organizational and time management abilities.
● Proficiency in relevant software applications (e.g., MS Office Suite, data analysis tools).
● Fluency in English and Hindi is mandatory.
