WASSAN (Watershed Support Services and Activities Network) is a prominent non-profit organization committed to fostering economic prosperity alongside ecological security for communities in rainfed regions across India. Since its inception in 1999 and based in Hyderabad, WASSAN has worked intensively in four states and engages extensively through networks in another ten states.

With an annual turnover of approximately INR 40 crores and a dedicated team of over 400 staffs across various locations, WASSAN implements impactful programs focused on natural resource management, rainfed agriculture, and agroecological transformation.


As a network-based organization, WASSAN strives to enhance the quality of mainstream programs in natural resources management and sustainable livelihoods. It plays an active role in policy advocacy at both state and national levels, particularly in the domain of rainfed agriculture. In addition, it offers field-level support services to a wide range of watershed development and livelihood initiatives implemented by civil society organizations in partnership with local communities. Currently, WASSAN has around 400 staffs across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, New Delhi and Jharkhand.

Processing Unit Accountant

Position:

Period of Contract:
The contract will be for a period of 1 year (first 3 months shall be probation period) in consultancy mode, renewable for another year subject to satisfactory performance and project period extension.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Accounts Management:
● Maintain day-to-day accounts in Tally ERP 9.
● Prepare and finalize monthly and yearly financial statements.
● Ensure timely financial reporting to management and donor agencies.

2. Documentation & Reporting:
● Verify bills and vouchers before accounting entries.
● Maintain Physical cash book, bank book, stock register and ledger records.
● To make the invoices for the sales and generate e-way bills.
● To prepare the purchase orders (PO’s) for Procurements.
● Prepare monthly bank reconciliation statements.
● Handle TDS calculation and deductions.
● File GST returns and maintain related records.

3. Compliance & Statutory Requirements:
● Ensure compliance with FPO/Society Registration Act and other regulations.
● Maintain statutory records and all renewal of licenses periodically.
● Coordinate with auditors during internal and external audits.

4. Coordination & Support:
● Work closely with plant operations and procurement teams-verification of bills and timely payments.
● Support overall administrative activities-attendance and payroll/wages, etc.
● Perform any other tasks assigned by the organization.

Educational Qualification & Experience:
● M.Com / B. Com with strong accounting knowledge.
● Minimum 3 years of experience in Processing industry (preferably food sector).

Technical Competencies:

● Proficiency in Tally ERP 9.
● Knowledge of GST, TDS, and financial compliance.
● Strong understanding of bookkeeping and financial reporting.

Marketing Executive for Groudnut Processing Unit

Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Market Development & Sales
● Identify potential buyers including wholesalers, retailers, bulk buyers, and institutions.
● Develop new markets and expand customer base for groundnuts, millets, and value-added products.
● Maintain strong relationships with existing buyers for repeat business.

2. Marketing Strategy & Planning
● Develop marketing plans aligned with Processing capacity and business targets.
● Analyze market trends, demand, and pricing.

3. Order Management
● Consult with procurement team before committing timelines to customers as seasonal commodities.
● Coordinate with processing team for timely delivery of orders as per client specifications.
● Coordinate with logistics and dispatch teams.
● Ensure customer satisfaction.

4. Pricing & Negotiation
● Negotiate prices and terms with buyers.
● Ensure profitability while maintaining competitiveness bench marking against prevailing market prices .

5. Promotion & Branding
● Promote products through field visits, exhibitions, and digital platforms.
● Support branding and packaging initiatives.

6. Customer Relationship Management

● Handle customer queries, feedback, and complaints within agreed time limits.
● Ensure long-term business relationships.

● Maintain records of sales, buyers, and transactions.
● Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports update in dashboard.

8. Coordination & Compliance
● Work with accounts team for billing and receipts.

Educational Qualification & Experience
Any Graduate (Marketing / Agriculture / Business preferred) with 2–5 years’ experience in agri-marketing or sales.

Plant Manager (Production & Quality Assurance)

Period of Contract:
The contract will be for a period of 1 year (first 3 months shall be probation period) in consultancy mode, renewable based on performance and project requirements.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:
(a) Production & Plant Management (50%)
● Operational Oversight: Oversee day-to-day operations of the plant, including Groundnut with shell cleaning, Water dosing & conditioning, Decortication, Colour sortex pass, sorting, grading, Drying and packing to meet production schedules, Millets and pulses processing also as per requirement.
● Efficiency Optimization: Increase production output and asset capacity while minimizing unnecessary costs (e.g., machine downtime, excess waste, Idle Human resources).
● Maintenance Planning: Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for machinery (e.g., Destone, Decortication, Vibro sifter, Colour sortex, elevators, grading separators, conveyors etc.) to ensure they are in good working order maintain minimum spares and consumables.
● Inventory & Logistics: Manage raw material (groundnut) intake, storage conditions to prevent quality risk, and dispatch of finished goods.
● Budgeting: Control operational expenses, monitor utility costs, and manage the plant budget.

(b) Quality Control & Food Safety (50%)
● Food Safety Standards: Ensure compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), (going ahead implement HACCP, and ISO 22000 standards).
● Quality Inspection: Develop inspection protocols for raw material intake, packaging materials, in-process checking, and final finished products.

● In process and Quality Management: Strictly manage testing and mitigation procedures for product contamination in RM and FG (Ground nut with shell and Ground nut final product) .
● Lab Management: Lead the quality team in running laboratory tests (Foreign matters, Infestation, Rancid, taste and odour, moisture content and maintaining laboratory equipment. Also manage external lab testing for other parameters as per fssai requirements

● Continuous Improvement: Investigate customer complaints regarding quality, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

● Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Engineering, or relevant agricultural field.
● Experience: Minimum 5-10 years of experience in a food processing plant, with at least 3 years in a management role.
● Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of Groundnut processing, food safety, and quality assurance regulations (advantage: BRC, FSSC 22000).
● Leadership: Strong team management abilities, including training, scheduling, and fostering a safe work environment.
● Technical Proficiencies: Familiarity with ERP systems and Microsoft Office (for reporting).

Machine Operator

Position:

Key Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Machine Operation:
● Operate groundnut processing machinery including decorticators, graders machines,Sortex and packaging units.
● Candidates should have a minimum knowledge in machine operations to handle basic tasks independently.

2. Electrical Work & Basic Maintenance:
● Conduct routine machine checks, including electrical connections, motor inspections, and basic troubleshooting.
● Assist with minor repairs and report major faults to the maintenance team.
.
3. Production Monitoring:
● Maintain production records (log) such as input-output quantity, machine run time, and downtime.
● Monitor product quality during machine operations and report deviations.

4. Safety & Hygiene:
● Follow safety protocols including correct use of PPE.
● Maintain cleanliness around the machines as per food safety and hygiene standards.

Educational Qualification & Experience:

● ITI or Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical.
● Minimum 2 years’ experience in machine operations, preferably in Food processing Industry.

Technical Competencies:
● Basic knowledge of mechanical Components (Barings, pulleys, etc) motors, and machine controls.
● Understanding of groundnut processing machines and material handling equipment.
● Ability to read and follow machine operation manuals and SOPs.

● Good teamwork and communication in English and Telugu.

Chief Executive Officer for FPO

The contract will be for a period of 1 year (first 6 months shall be probation period) in consultancy mode, renewable for another year subject to satisfactory performance and project period extension.

Key Responsibilities:
(A) Operations Management
The CEO oversees all operational activities such as procurement, storage, sales, and logistics. They ensure that operations are well-planned, efficient, and completed on time. The CEO also initiates value addition processes like cleaning, grading, and packaging to improve product quality and marketability.

(B) Farmer Engagement and Capacity Building
The CEO works closely with the farmer members of the FPO. They organize training programs, awareness sessions, and capacity-building workshops. They ensure regular communication with members and address any complaints or grievances.

.
(C) Team Supervision and Performance Monitoring
The CEO manages all FPO staff and field-level teams. They assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure all team members are aligned with the goals of the FPO. Regular reviews and feedback are provided for team improvement.

 

(D) Market Linkages and Business Development

A key role of the CEO is to build market linkages that help farmers get better prices. They connect with buyers, traders, and companies to create marketing opportunities. The CEO also explores new business models and revenue streams to increase the FPO’s income and sustainability.

(E) Compliance and Reporting

It is the CEO’s duty to ensure the FPO complies with all legal and statutory requirements including GST and audits. They prepare monthly and quarterly reports and submit them to the Board of Directors and Project Manager, highlighting key performance indicators, challenges, and action plans.

Required Qualifications:
● Graduate in B. Com/MBA/Agriculture BSC.
● Minimum 1 years of experience in managing or working with FPOs (MANDATORY).
● Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
● Experience in handling agriculture supply chains, procurement, and marketing

Preferred Qualifications:
● Knowledge of government schemes and funding mechanisms for FPOs.
● Experience with digital tools for agriculture and rural development.
● Fluency in Hindi and English language and willingness to travel in rural areas

Watershed Support Services and Activities Network (WASSAN) invites proposals from qualified agencies, institutions, and individual consultants to undertake a comprehensive study on the application, decision-making processes, and availability of pesticides and herbicides—particularly focusing on the continued circulation of banned and restricted substances. The study will be conducted in selected project landscapes in Deoghar and Koraput.
