WASSAN (Watershed Support Services and Activities Network), Hyderabad since 1999. WASSAN is a network-based organisation focusing on improving the quality of mainstream programs in natural resources management and livelihoods. It engages actively in policy advocacy initiatives at state and national level mainly related to rainfed agriculture. It also provides field level support services to a large number of watershed development and other programs implemented by the civil society in partnership with communities. Currently, WASSAN has around 300 employees spread in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha and Jharkhand.

Program Manager (Millet Mentor)

About Millet Mentor Program:
Millet Mentor an initiative crafted to offer comprehensive technical and business support services to decentralized small scale millet processing units (clients), these units are mainly operated by Community based organizations (FPOs, SHGs etc) and/or socially responsible private enterprises. This platform is a collaborative effort of several prominent organizations, anchored in WASSAN and Selco Foundation. The various support services include unit set up, machine and vendor selection, technical advisory, training in operations and technical backstopping, enterprise management, liaisoning with machine vendors etc. For more details, please visit https://www.milletmentor.org.

Key Responsibilities:

Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise between multiple stakeholders including clients (millet processing enterprises), training partners, partner agencies, and a pool of resource persons and experts.

Client Engagement: Reach out to existing and upcoming millet enterprises, conduct preliminary audits, and develop tailored action plans for each client.

Planning and Reporting: Oversee activity, deliverable, and resource planning for the initiative, along with regular reviews and reporting.

Partner Engagement: Maintain consistent engagement with partners and onboard new partners with relevant capacities and inclinations.

Documentation: Prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other technical documentation as required.

Client Support and Site Visits: Provide hands-on support to clients, and conduct site visits for audits and inspections.

Project Management: Ensure overall project management with respect to outcomes and timelines.

Desired Qualifications / Expertise:

Educational Background: Mechanical Engineer or MBA with a focus on Production and Operations Management.

Work experience: Minimum of 5 year’s experience managing factory operations with a deep understanding of key processes such as production planning, inventory management, repair and maintenance, labour management, and staff training. Preferably from the food processing industry; candidates with related industry experience (non-food) are also encouraged to apply.

Skills:
• Strong procurement and vendor management skills.
• Proficiency in operations data management and documentation.
• Experience in managing dispersed teams.
• Reasonable understanding of business plans and accounts.
• Knowledge of the staples sector (cereals, millets) is desired.

Technical Officer (Millet Mentor)

Key Responsibilities:
● Manage the process of vendor empanelment and act as a liaison between vendors and clients to address machine-related issues, gather feedback, and support vendors to implement improvements based on feedback.

● Provide comprehensive support to clients, from pre-installation assistance to final sign-off after installation.

● Ensure that the clients operating staff are proficient in technical manuals and possess a basic understanding of machine operations.

● Offer technical backstopping to clients through consistent engagement, reporting, and follow-up.

● Assist clients in selecting technicians, oversee the training of local technicians, and manage their services effectively.

● Handle necessary documentation, curate knowledge, and develop content for training and service delivery purposes.

● Conduct regular visits to client units to assess machine health, evaluate processes, and gauge staff competency.

● Offer onsite support as needed to ensure the effective delivery of services.

● Provide and occasionally lead technical training sessions or refresher courses as required.

● Provide support to other projects as needed, particularly those requiring similar skills and expertise.

Desired Qualifications / Expertise:

● Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, ITI diploma, or any other relevant qualification

● Prior experience in the agri-processing or food-processing industry preferably millet processing, vendor management, client support and technical assistance

● Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively liaise between vendors, clients, and internal teams.

● Ability to provide onsite support and travel to client locations as necessary.

● Experience in conducting technical training sessions is desirable.

● Ability to handle multiple tasks and disperse teams effectively.

● Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of accountability and attention to detail.

● Demonstrated ability in problem-solving, including remotely supporting clients to identify and implement local solutions effectively.

● Fluency in multiple languages is preferred.

About Role:

As a Technical Officer with the Millet Mentor program, the individual will collaborate closely with clients and vendors to ensure timely delivery of high-quality services and resolve any queries that may arise. Additionally, they will be responsible for supporting technicians trained to provide these services to clients. Furthermore, the incumbent will contribute to the team by assisting in the design and maintenance of pertinent knowledge materials.

• Analytical and structured for preparing the budget sheets and business plan.

• Advanced quantitative analysis for detailed project report preparation

Education / Experience:
• More than 4-5 year of work experience in tier 1 & 2 consulting firms, NGOs/ Government organizations

• Extensive experience in the financial sector consulting space wherein he/she will be handling large procurements, documentation, GST, Tally, Advance Excel, Financial Statement Preparation, Internal Audits, Consolidation of accounts of Group companies, and the idea of Annual General and Special Audits.

• Intern CA, CFA Level – 1, or B.com/M.com. An MBA in finance is desirable but not essential.

● Ensure completion of tasks assigned to the Project Support Team (PST).
● Assist in tracking and reporting project progress to relevant stakeholders.

● Communicate updates and information to teams as required.

8. Data and Information Management:
● Follow up with teams to gather required data, information, vendor details, and other project-related inputs.
